  • Jaipur : After making successful foray into Delhi-NCR and Chandigarh, HealthCare at Home (HCAH), a new facility that offers world class healthcare services in the comfort of home, has entered Jaipur, the heart of Rajasthan.

A joint-venture between the Burman family, the promoters of India’s leading natural health care products maker Dabur, and Dr Gareth Jones and Charles Walsh, the founders of the UK-based Healthcare At Home (HAH), the company has made at-home world class medical care a reality in the country.

HCAH started providing its exemplary homecare services in Delhi-NCR over a year back and drew huge response from patients and doctors alike. Later, the company launched its services in Chandigarh in December, from where it serves the Chandigarh tri-city and Punjab, to an overwhelming response. Now, HealthCare at Home is ready to serve the people of Rajasthan with its unique services that provide much of the hospital-like facilities at home and allow people with acute, chronic and sometimes terminal diseases to get treated and cared for in the comfort of their homes.

The company works alongside the patients’ doctors to offer high-end, clinically credible treatment to the patients in the comfortable confines of their homes.

HCAH will work with hospitals, doctors and patients to offer critical healthcare services in oncology (cancer care), pulmonology (lung care), post-operative care (orthopedics, cardiac, bariatric — weight loss surgeries — etc), critical care and palliative care, to patients in the comfortable environment of their own homes. Setting up of ICU facilities at home makes HCAH stand out. Understanding the need for special care for senior citizens in the country, the company also offers specialized elderly care and companionship programme for them.

“With this expansion, we aim at changing the entire healthcare scenario in the city with unmatched homecare facilities changing the way people look at chronic ailments and their treatments that not only bother the patients but also his/her family. Encouraging response from Delhi-NCR and Chandigarh-Mohali has made us to expand our wings to Jaipur. It will be a boon for those who had to travel to Japiur for treatments, like chemotherapy, physiotherapy, among others. From Jaipur we will serve the people even in remote areas of the state. This will increase the access to quality healthcare,” said Mr. Vivek Srivastava, CEO, HealthCare at Home.

The backbone of the company is its experienced trained staff (nurses, HCAs and physiotherapists) who after joining HCAH embark on a rigorous six-weeks training. HCAH invests in excellent IT platform and technologically advanced international equipment which is necessary to provide cohesive treatment at home. HCAH’s healthcare providers at all times keep the treating doctor in the loop.

“It’s a well-known fact that being at home can bring happiness on the faces of even the most critical of patients as they struggle through a chronic or acute disease. Critical care in the home is an affordable option. In fact, it is both financially affordable and psychologically important to keep elderly and ill family members in the familiarity of their homes as it is the ideal healing environment, where access to loved ones and familiar surroundings shortens recovery time. This can only be achieved through employing experienced, well-trained healthcare professionals delivering doctor-approved care protocols. We have already started services in Delhi and Chandigarh where the people who have opted for our services are really satisfied and happy with the care their near and dear ones are getting at home under regular monitoring of doctors. Our availability in Jaipur opens a new era in the field of the city’s healthcare services,” said Dr Gareth Jones, Chairman, HealthCare At Home India.

A prolonged hospital stay is not to the liking of either patients or their family members. Besides hampering the will power of the patient, it also leads to major financial burden on the family. Yet, in the case of certain illnesses, there is but no option other than hospital care. HCAH offers an effective and affordable alternative in such cases.

“HCAH makes sure that the treating doctor of the patient is always in control of the treatment being provided. Treatments administered by the HCAH professionals are led by the prescriptions of the patients’ doctors. So while the doctor is always supervising his/her patient via HCAH, the quality treatment being provided by our professionals leads to all-round improvement in the patients’ conditions,” said Dr Gaurav Thukral, Vice President & Head, Business Development, HealthCare at Home India.

The services being provided by HCAH save the already hassled patient from travelling to and fro to hospitals. The HCAH staff keeps the patients’ doctors updated about the treatment and their condition, providing the treating doctors a tab on their patients.

HCAH aims at bridging the yawning gap for quality patient care at home. As far as cost factors are concerned, HCAH is an affordable choice for a lot of patients, who otherwise pay huge amounts to hospitals for medical facilities. Availing ICU and chemotherapy services at home are 20-50% cheaper as compared to hospitals.

Why one would opt for homecare?

When someone in the family suffers from critical illness and requires constant medical intervention and supervision, homecare comes as the best possible option. Instead of expensive, time-consuming attendance at hospital, homecare is designed to better meet patient needs. Allowing the patient to be at home greatly improves their quality of life.

For every treatment, there is no need to travel to the hospital. The homecare services which can even handle critical patients save the patients from painful visits to hospitals.

After getting discharged from hospital, equal attention and care is required at home too. The period is sensitive for the patients and one can’t heave a sigh of relief after just stepping out of the hospital. Proper and diligent care at home after the release from hospital is important and it leads to speedy recovery of the patients too.

Patients who deal with chronic ailments on a day-to-day basis are always looking for mental and spiritual wellbeing in order to cope up with the difficulties in their lives; in such cases homecare facilities such as “HealthCare at Home” grant patients freedom, mental peace and a hassle-free lifestyle much to their convenience.

As far as cost factors are concerned, Healthcare at Home will be an affordable choice for a lot of patients, who otherwise pay huge amounts to hospitals for medical facilities. So, cancer patients can now choose homecare for post-surgery treatments like radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and biological therapy without having to get admitted to a hospital or hopping between places. Even pregnant women can opt for it pre- and post- the delivery customized care, especially in cases of high-risk pregnancies. Precisely, it is dream possibility for many patients in India suffering from various acute, chronic and terminal diseases.

For hospitals also, homecare service is a boon as it empties beds there, creating capacities for patients who are critically ill. Such service is good for doctors as well as it frees them from regular screening of the patients, which can otherwise be taken care of by healthcare providers of homecare service operators. When the responsibility is shared, doctors have more time in hand to see more patients.
