Tech students of Heritage Institute of Technology Kolkata got energized today after organizing 3rd Heritage Film Festival 2013 at the Heritage campus as a tribute to Parallel Indian Cinema. The film festival will continue till tomorrow DSC_0026i.e. 20th April 2013. The programme was inaugurated none other than Ms. Aditi Roy, young budding director of the film “Abosheshey” along with Mr. Asis Sanyal, eminent photographer of National Geography and Mr. Shyamal Sengupta, Professor, Production Management, Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, (SRFTI) Kolkata. The programme was organized in association with SRFTI Kolkata.

“It is quite a different atmosphere in a tech institute where such a programme is organized and for the first time I saw students inviting personalities who are in the back stage administrating a film production instead of inviting actors or actresses. That is really appreciable,” said Mr. Shyamal Sengupta, Professor, SRFTI Kolkata. The two day film festival will witness niche and award winning films which will be shown to the students like Interview directed by Mrinal Sen, DSC_00271971, Les Diaboliqes, Directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot, France 1955, Raam Ke Naam/In the Name of God directed by Anand Patwardhan in 1992 and many more. These films are not accessible easily and they are really appreciable by the youth community because of the hidden idea behind the direction of such films.

The programme was also contributed by Mr. Probir Roy, Executive Director, Mr. Pradip Agarwal, CEO, Dr. Pranay Chaudhuri, Principal, Heritage Institute, Dr. Sobhen Ray, Registrar, Heritage Institute and faculty members of the institute.
