Home Secretaries of India and Pakistan met in New Delhi on Monday to deliberate on a wide range of issues concerning the two countries including the progress in the probe of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Home Secretary Gopal K Pillai and his Pakistani counterpart Chaudhary Qamar Zaman will meet for two days to discuss bilateral issues, including Islamabad’s reluctance in co-operating fully in bringing to justice the perpetrators of the Mumbai carnage.

The meeting comes ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistan counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani witnessing Wednesday’s India-Pakistan World Cup cricket semi-final clash in Mohali.

Zaman, who is leading a six-member delegation, had on Sunday said his discussions with Pillai would be aimed at promoting and strengthening peace between the two neighbours.

“Such efforts between the two sides would enhance peaceful relations and promote people-to-people contact,” Zaman had told reporters at the Attari-Wagah border before flying to Delhi.
