    Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra to inaugurate St. Mary’s School (ICSE) 150th Year Celebrations

    Mumbai : Mumbai’s distinguished St. Mary’s School (ICSE), Mazagaon, will be hosting the Inaugural Function of its immaclata150th Year Celebrations on Saturday, 23rd November 2013 on its school campus. The function will be held on the school football ground, so as to accommodate the large audience that is expected to be in attendance.  The Church Liturgical service will commence this inaugural event at which the Chief Celebrant will be His Eminence Cardinal Oswald Gracias, the Archbishop of the Mumbai Diocese.  A 60 boys strong choir has been trained to sing hymns in perfect harmony during the Service.

    Later in the evening at 7:00 pm, the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, Shri. K. Sankaranarayanan, will be present to inaugurate the function and will be the Chief Guest for the evening.  Also gracing the occasion, will be the Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai, Shri Sitaram Kunte.

    Chief Post Master General, Col. K.C. Mishra (VSM) will be present as well for the release of the Special Cover (Postal Envelope) to commemorate this unique occasion.

    After the 150 Years Celebrations has been declared ‘OPEN’, a cultural program will commence, consisting of  items such as a Shadow Play and the depiction of the History of the School through a power point presentation.  These items will be followed by action songs and a band performance by the school boys.  Altogether, there are expected to be about 350-400 children on stage.

    St. Mary’s was established in the year 1864, so the year 2014 would mark 150 years.  With this celebration, a year of festive events and social projects will begin.  St Mary’s, as we fondly know has always attempted to develop every individual’s potential to the fullest with some of the most prominent alumni doing them proud.  These include, Goolam Vahanvati, Azim Premji, Zubin Mehta, Sooraj Barjatya, Boman Irani and Kunal Vijaykar among others.

    This sesquicentennial function promises to be a grand success.
