  • IIM Bangalore, Wharton School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology co-host one-day forum

    IIMBangalore: Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is organizing a one-day Forum at IIM Bangalore on Global Supply Chain Strategy in India: Outsourcing, Re-shoring and Near-shoring in collaboration with The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.

    The Forum, scheduled for November 23, 2013 will comprise keynote talks by leaders from academia and industry, followed by a panel discussion in which leaders from Indian industry and academics from The Wharton School and IIMB will participate.

    The Forum will provide participants with the opportunity to interact with senior executives from leading multi-national companies headquartered or operating in India, to explore current thinking and practices concerning global supply chain strategy and sourcing from the perspective of both Indian and non-Indian companies.

    Forum interactions will facilitate an exchange of ideas that will identify managerial challenges and concerns. It will also ascertain current practices and intentions of participating companies.

    This Forum will be one of a series of forums that are being offered by Wharton and MIT in partnership with leading universities in different regions around the world. The first forum was held at MIT in March 2013 and the focus there was on re-shoring to the US and job creation. The second forum was held in Shanghai in June 2013 in collaboration with Jiao Tong University.

    The executive forum at IIM Bangalore will focus on global supply chains that are operated by Indian domestic companies and multinational companies that operate in India. This will include OEMs, contract manufacturers, service providers and lower tier suppliers. The emphasis will be on issues associated with the sourcing of manufacturing and services.

    The proposed schedule of the Forum is as follows:

    November 23, 2013: 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Academic Speakers:

    • Professor Morris A. Cohen, Panasonic Professor of Manufacturing and Logistics, Wharton School, USA

    • Professor Pankaj Chandra, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore

    Keynote Speakers:

    • Mr. Bernard Richardot, Vice President, Procurement, Airbus

    • Mr. Som Mittal, President, NASSCOM

    • Mr. Arvind Melligeri, Chairman, Quest Global

    Panel Discussion: A panel of academic and industry speakers would be presenting their experiences and viewpoints and discuss key issues in the panel discussion.

    Panel Speakers:

    • Mr. Chris Rao, Vice President, UTC Aerospace Systems

    • Mr. Moti Gyamlani, Global Director – Supply Chain, Airtel

    • Mr. H.G. Raghunath, CEO – Watches and Accessories, Titan

    • Professor Devanath Tirupati, Dean (Academic) and EADS Chair Professor, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore

    • Forum participants would be senior managers from Manufacturing, IT and Service industries.
