    Published on February 10, 2016

New Delhi : Termed as “the Olympics of B-Schools” by Indian Sports News, Institute of Management Technology Ghaziabad’s three-day sporting extravaganza- Chakravyuh is ready to roll in February. Traditionally a war formation to protect the innermost warriors, it symbolises strength, strategy and preparedness. Chakravyuh is one of the country’s most respected sports fests and attracts students and alumni alike. The 72 hours of non-stop action featuring Chakravyuhteams from India’s premiere B-Schools kicks-off February 11 running through February 14.

Teams not just from IMT Ghaziabad, but from B-Schools across the country such as IITs, IIMs, MDI, FMS, IIFT, XIMB, IMI, Great Lakes, KJSIMSR, UBS and several other top B-schools in India have participated in the event. Since it began more than 23 years ago, Chakravyuh has grown by leaps and bounds. The 2016 edition will see teams competing in football, basketball, volleyball, throw ball, cricket, badminton, table tennis and tennis.”

Chakravyuh encompasses the very spirit of IMT-Ghaziabad. It stands for pride, honour, patience, perseverance, stamina, will-power and above all sportsmanship, qualities essential for coming out a winner on the field and in life. It isn’t just any sports event, it‘s 72 hours of non-stop action, unconfined boldness, indomitable spirit, grand organization and a hunger for competition. With a war-like atmosphere at times, it also features off-the-field events testing your sporting knowledge and DJ evenings where you can rock the night away in a festive atmosphere. It remains the ultimate test of an athlete’s skill, stamina, passion, strength, agility and the ability to endure pressure and come out victorious.
Chakravyuh’s basic premise is simple – form a team of 25 players accommodating all sports, with your aim on the overall trophy based on a points system. While it seems simple and straight-forward, the strategy going into the formation of a team requires a Herculean managerial effort usually beginning five or six months in advance. Chakravyuh is an athletic marathon that contains all the elements of the ruthless competition seen in the business world.

With more than 6000 footfall at IMT Ghaziabad, Chakravyuh will receive wide media coverage from Fever FM and Dainik Jagran. This year, Chakravyuh will be a platform to promote ‘Janhit Jagran’, a CSR initiative of Dainik Jagran. It aims at inviting innovative ideas to face seven different challenges: Educated Society, Healthy Society, Women Empowerment, Poverty Alleviation, Environment Conservation, Water Conservation and Population Management.

A message from Unmukt Chand, top-order Indian batsman and an act by ‘Tron – laser man show | laser fight’ is sure to dazzle you during Chakarvyuh’16 Opening ceremony to be held on 11th Feb, 2016. We also have Ms. Manasi Joshi, National Para Badminton Player as our honorable chief guest of the evening.

This season, Chakravyuh will capture the essence of BRAVEHEARTS: the indomitable spirit of larger than life sportspersons, who resurrected themselves from impossible situations in life and scaled new heights. IMT Ghaziabad salutes Yuvraj Singh (Cricket), Eric Abidal (Football), Edna Campbell (Basketball), Leander Paes (Lawn Tennis), Arunima Sinha (Volleyball), Pullela Gopichand (Badminton), Natalia Partyka (Table Tennis) and Poornima Padalady (Throwball) for their will power and fortitude to prove themselves despite of the various adversities faced in life. It takes great perseverance to be a braveheart and the one who will perform to the best of his/her abilities to live through the hurdles, will rise as the “Abhimanyu”.
