  • ITM University, Gurgaon has changed its name to ‘The Northcap University’ (NCU) in a bid to clear the confusion amongst students and general public which used to occur because of certain other Universities and institutes with the same acronym (ITM.) The name change has been notified by the University Grants Commission (UGC) NCU logoand an ordinance notifying the same was earlier promulgated by the Honourable Governor of Haryana. The University is already included in the list of Private Universities under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act.

This renaming has been necessitated by a variety of other factors as well. The name change reflects the University’s evolution from an institute of technology and management in 1996,to a University offering multidisciplinary courses and engaged in cutting edge research.

Prof. Prem Vrat, Pro-Chancellor of the University said, “The new name is strengthened by a logo showing a ‘Bridge’, a mnemonic which represents the connection between the ‘classroom and the real world’. The name, ‘THE NORTHCAP UNIVERSITY’, allows us to better align us with our future strategy and helps us provide a unique identity. Our new identity will continue reflecting our commitment towards delivering relevant education meeting national needs and international standards.”

The University offers courses in engineering, management, law and is the first University of Delhi/NCR to offer Masters Degree with specialization in Cyber security. It has consistently been listed among the frontrunners in imparting quality education in Delhi-NCR and Haryana state. It has been ranked as No.1 Emerging University in India by the Higher Education Review in April 2015 and has also achieved the First Rank in Private Universities in Haryana in June 2015.
