  • Lovely Professional University to host 106th Indian Science Congress

    New Delhi : Lovely Professional University (LPU), India’s largest private university, will be hosting the ‘106th Indian Science Congress’ to be held from January 3rd to 7th at LPU campus in Phagwara, Jalandhar.  This mega four day event will be inaugurated by Honourable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi where he will address an audience of 30,000 scientists, researchers and students. The Indian Science Congress organized by Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) is an annual gathering that is aimed to bring together science fraternity across the world to discuss scientific innovation and research.

    This year, LPU and ISCA plan to make the already large event even more grand. Indian Science Congress 2019 will have participation from six Nobel laureates from countries like Germany, Hungary, England and others – making it the largest such gathering of its kind in India.

    Apart from this, various cabinet ministers including Union Science and Technology Minister, Shri Harsh Vardhan and Textile Minister, Smt. Smriti Irani will also attend the event. Scientists from ISRO, Department of Science and Technology, UGC & AICTE are also slated to attend.  The theme of the 106th science congress is ‘Future India: Science & Technology’ and will attract 20,000 delegates including 3000 acclaimed scientists & researchers and, students from across 40 countries.

    LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal said, “Lovely Professional University is proud to be one of the first private university in the country to host the Indian Science Congress. We are excited to welcome the Honourable PM and the leaders of the global and national scientific community to our campus. I am confident that this edition of the Science Congress will set new benchmarks for scientific discourse in India.”

    The five-day mega event will also include Children’s Science Congress and Women Science Congress. The Children’s Science Congress is a unique opportunity for children in the age group of 10-17 years to showcase their innovative ideas. Over 5,000 school students, selected after qualifying in state and district level competitions, will showcase their exhibits, models, and charts. The Women Science Congress will highlight the contribution of women in Science and technology. It will have 12 women leaders and scientists delivering lectures.
