    Published on November 11, 2012

mayamanmohanBSP chief Mayawati on Sunday met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at his residence in the national capital.

Speaking to news persons after the meeting, Mayawati said that the meeting was a regular political meeting and this has nothing to do with the upcoming Parliament session.

Regarding FDI, she said she will take any decision on the basis of her statement made earlier on 9th October.

Ahead of Parliament’s winter session, the meeting of leaders assumes importance as it is being seen as an effort to firm up a strategy to unitedly face any Opposition onslaught on issues like FDI in retail and price hike.

Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah had already held such meeting with the Prime Minister on Friday evening.

Leaders of other allies like NCP, DMK and RLD are also going to meet the Prime Minister on Sunday.

The Prime Minister has been maintaining that the recent decisions, including FDI in retail, will benefit the common man and has been accusing the Opposition of spreading misinformation.

Prime Minister is also banking on the support of SP and BSP to get important legislations like Lokpal, Whistleblowers’ Bill, Land Acquisition bill and food security bill passed in Parliament.
