Once logged onto http://www.melonprep.com, the assessment platform has over 100,000 questions in a range of topics and concepts covering all the major curriculum and syllabi as well as covering major exams in the Mathematics and Science subjects. It compliments Teachers, Coaching Institutes and Tutors with an application, to create various preparatory tests, quizzes and also enables them to create customized assessments for their student community. The origin and genesis to the name – Melonprep, is the brainchild of two young and budding entrepreneurs Saurabh Mundra and Hussain Tambawala –as a tribute to their University, ‘Carnegie Mellon’ and the experiences they shared, which would make a huge difference to the society in the later years.

Speaking about the launch, Saurabh Mundra, Co-Founder, MelonPrep said: ‘Mathematics and Science content is common all over the world, yet, people pay through the nose for the content. Our aim is to create a platform where students can hone their skills by using our practice sessions,  joining discussion topics, sharing opinions, arguments and questions and get feedback from both their peers and the teaching community, all along, track their progress as they get a much better sense of how well  they are prepared for upcoming examinations’.

Further echoing the sentiment, Hussain Tambawala, Co-Founder, MelonPrep, added: It is our endeavor to make MelonPrep a supplementary tool aimed towards measuring students learning ability – enable them to be aware of their strengths and weakness and improve scores. Melonprep does not replace teachers but acts as an enabler and complements their role by providing supportive practice content. According to a recent report, India’s online education market size is predicted to grow to $40 billion by 2017 from the present $20 billion. There are close to hundred million private schools and approximately around 30% of them are students of private schools. Thus is a huge potential for such collaborative assessment platforms in India.
