    Published on June 30, 2012

New Delhi : New commissioner of Delhi Police Neeraj Kumar says, a terror-free city and a more people-friendly force will be his focus areas. Known for his effective handling of terror and underworld cases, Kumar was talking to newspersons after taking over his assignment in New Delhi. He succeeded B. K. Gupta, who retired on Saturday.

Kumar said the police have arrested arrested terrorists but it is wrong to think the city is now safe from terror attacks. It is a dynamic situation and they have to keep their vigil.

A post graduate from prestigious St Stephen’s College, the 59-year IPS officer had served in the Central Bureau of Investigation during which he probed Mumbai serial blasts.

A 1976-batch officer, he had served as Director General of Tihar Jail. He has been instrumental in arrest of many underworld criminals associated with Dawood Ibrahim besides catching and deporting of Aftab Ansari, accused in the American Centre shooting at Kolkata.
