  • New Delhi asks Islamabad not to allow terrorism from its soil

    India on Wednesday discussed the key issue of terrorism with Pakistan in the backdrop of shrinking trust deficit. During his meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar at the convention centre in Gan, Maldives, the External Affairs Minister S M Krishna told Islamabad not to allow terrorism from its soil and sought speedy trial of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack case.

    In turn, Khar assured that her country will not allow its soil to be used for such acts. The Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan held talks ahead of the meeting of the Prime Ministers of the two countries on the sidelines of the SAARC summit in Maldives tomorrow. Official sources said India also raised the issue of Pakistani judicial commission’s visit to India in connection with the Mumbai attack case. The sources said that during the meeting, both leaders discussed issues of bilateral interests and agreed that terrorism was a threat to both countries.

    Earlier, Krishna had sent out positive signals before the meeting, telling reporters accompanying him to Maldives that the environment was very positive.
