  • Over 250 students participate in Delhi round of National Logistic Talent Hunt 2013

    New Delhi : In a bid to address the massive manpower crunch in the logistic industry that will require nearly 5 lakh skilled people by 2020, Million Minds Management Services Limited along with Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, India, recently organized the regional screening for its much awaited “Logistics Talent Hunt 2013” in the national capital. The initiative is aimed at recognizing and polishing fresh talent for the rapidly growing sector.

    Around 250 students from various colleges of Delhi-NCR, Western Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand participated in the second edition of the talent hunt held at Asia Pacific Institute of Management Studies, Jasola, New Delhi.

    The winning teams included, Real Face of Logistics, (Atit Kumar, Ankur Ram Gupta, Deepak Sharma, Sachin Singh, Niraj Bansal) students of Institute of International Management and Technology

    Logistics in services of rural India, (Jignesh Noriya, Athen Francis, Saurabh Kumar Kaushik, Dhaval Jodhani, Mithilesh Kumar) students of Indian Maritime University, and Gap Analysis and solutions in Indian Logistics in terms of HR, (Ankit Dave, J. Joshuva Alexander, Mudit S. Desai, Vignesh P.B, Ashwin Kumar Goyal)  students of Jindal Global Business School, Sonipat.

    Million Minds Management Services Limited and Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, India, have been working together to highlight the growing need of manpower in logistics industry and to generate interest and give career direction to students in logistics sector, which in turn will help them to render a platform for enhancing business professional links.

    “Commenting on the present scenario of the Logistic industry and Logistics Talent hunt, explained Mr. Rajeev Bhardwaj, Group GM HR CONCOR said “The logistic industry needs 4, 30,000 skilled people in all categories by 2020 and for that we need to boost up our efforts. We need to focus on areas where the logistic industries are lacking behind. We need to inculcate interest and give career direction to students in logistics sector and to render a platform for enhancing business professional links, we along with institute should encourage more and more student to participate in “Logistic Achievers Award & Talent Hunt” so that they will know more about the industry and come up to join which will bridge the skill gap of the industry.

    Students participated in teams and gave presentations on real time excruciating topics. The issues discussed were delicate areas where the logistics industry is struggling behind. It included wrenching subjects like gap analysis and solutions in Indian logistics in terms of human resource, real face of logistics in Indian and global market, logistics services in rural India including the potential & practices etc.

    Jury members admired the sincere research work done by the teams and awarded the students with prizes. Other eminent people present at the Logistics Talent Hunt 2013 were Mr. Vinod Asthana, MD CRWC and Mr. Rajeev Bhardwaj, Group GM HR CONCOR, Dr. Abid Halim Ex Prof IIT Delhi, Mr Asthana said that this is an excellent initiative by Million minds to bridge the skill gap, bridge the gap between industry and the institutes. Indian logistic industry, which comprises of 13% of GDP, holds huge potential. However there is very less awareness about this and we need to make more people know about this booming industry.

    Students were adjudged by panel of jury from the logistics industry including Mr. Ravi Sharma, CMD Speed wings Logistics Pvt Ltd, Mr. Ajay Sarswat VP ETA FreightStar Ltd, Gen D V Kalra (Rtd.) Vice Chairman CILT , Dr Veni Mathur Ex Faculty IIT Delhi, Mr Amit , GM North DTDC Courier and Cargo Ltd.,
