  • PM’s all party meet on Lokpal begins

    New Delhi : The All party meeting convened by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to discuss the differences on the Lokpal and evolve a meaningful consensus has begun in New Delhi. The meeting taking place at the Prime minister’s residence will discuss the issues relating to the Lokpal bill.

    Speaking to reporters on the side lines of the Padma Award function at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday evening, Dr. Singh had exuded confidence that the differences on the Lokpal bill can be overcome through fruitful discussions and a consensus can be acheived cutting across party lines. He said the All party meeting has been called to achieve a meaningful consensus on the Lokpal Bill. Our correspondent reports, the Lok Sabha has already passed the Lokpal Bill, however in the Rajya Sabha, the House was adjourned sine die amid uproar on December 29, last year.

    The opposition had moved 97 amendments on the bill in the Rajya Sabha.
