  • PM Modi holds summit level talks with Chinese President

    pm bilateralPrime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held summit level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Xian in China. President Xi warmly welcomed Modi at the Shaanxi Guest House as the two leaders shook hands for photographs.

    In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Modi appreciated the Chinese leader for warmly receiving him outside Beijing. He described the welcome as an honour to 125 crore Indians whom he am represents as Prime Minister.

    President Xi in turn, recalled his visit to Ahmedabad in September last year where he was warmly received by PM Modi. He said he was glad to receive receive the PM in his hometown.

    The two leaders are expected to discuss trade, economic cooperation and ways to boost mutual trust among the two asian giants. During the talks India is likely to ask China to take steps to balance the bilateral trade which is currently in China’s favour.

    India and China are likely to sign over 20 business agreements during the visit. Prime Minister Modi has said he wants to focus on how India and China can further strengthen mutual trust and confidence, so as to realise the full potential of the relationship.
