  • Saudi, Turkish prosecutors discuss Khashoggi killing probe

    Published on October 29, 2018

Top Saudi and Turkish prosecutors on Monday discussed the investigation into the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency said the two prosecutors met for more than an hour in Turkey’s biggest city Istanbul. The two countries are running a joint investigation of the killing.

Turkey has been leaking information about the case to the media in an apparent effort to pressure its regional rival  Saudi Arabia for full disclosure.

Saudi officials characterize the killing as a rogue operation carried out by agents who exceeded their authority. Some of those implicated in the killing are close to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Khashoggi, a onetime Saudi insider, was U.S. resident. He lived in self-imposed exile for almost a year before his death. He had written critically of the crown prince in columns for The Washington Post.
