Bengaluru : SPARSH Hospital today announced the appointments of Senior Specialist medical practitioners at its Flagship Infantry Road Facility, expanding its core capabilities into the departments of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Liver Transplant & HPB, Cardiac Sciences, and Plastic, Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery.

The appointed specialists are Dr. Poornachandra K.S, Dr. Basant Mahadevappa.Dr. Ganesh Nallur Shivu, and Dr. Anand K,  The appointments come in the backdrop of a shift in the company’s focus and preparing for further changes.

Speaking on this significant announcement, Dr. Sharan S Patil, Chairman – SPARSH Hospital, said “It was a big step for us to move from single speciality to super-speciality as it helps consultants to work together as team in delivering the comprehensive care to the patients.”

Dr. Poornachandra K.S, M.D., Internal Medicine and  D.M.(Doctorate from PGI) takes charge of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology department as the HOD. With more than a decade of experience at leading hospitals in the city, Dr. Poornachandra joins the SPARSH family.
Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Poornachandra said, “All Diseases have their origin in Gut”. We at the department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and nutrition, SPARSH Hospital aims to provide comprehensive preventive and curative Gut and Liver care. I’m very excited be a part of this new venture at SPARSH.”

Dr. Anand K, MS, DNB, FRCS Ed (UK), DNB, FICS, taking charge of the Cosmetic, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery department, is one of the most experienced Plastic & reconstructive surgeons in Bengaluru. He has over two decades of experience in dealing with various procedures, and was trained at internationally-renowned healthcare institutions at Preston (UK) and Liverpool (UK). He also completed a Fellowship in Hand Surgery at the internationally renowned Pulvertaft hand Centre, Derby Royal Infirmary, UK.
Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Anand said, “It gives me immense pleasure to be part of SPARSH Group of hospitals as chief consultant cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgery. My vision would be to build the department as a centre of excellence and to start Hand and upper limb cadaveric transplantation programme.”

Dr. Ganesh Nallur Shivu, MBBS, MRCP, PhD, CCT, joins SPARSH as Consultant Interventional Cardiologist. Dr. Ganesh, currently serving on the editorial board of World Journal of Cardiology and Journal of Medical Sciences & Health, is known for several original peer review articles in high impact journals.
“This is our 3^rd cath lab in the group and I enjoy the SPARSH culture, the patient centric approach drives me. I am excited and look forward to take up the challenge to create a state of the art multi-specialty tertiary centre at SPARSH Infantry,” Dr. Ganesh said on his appointment.

Dr. Basant Mahadevappa assumes the role of Senior Consultant for Liver Transplant and Hepato-Pancreato Biliary (HPB) Surgery at SPARSH Hospital. With over a decade of experience, he specialises in liver Transplantation and Hepato Pancreao Biliary (HPB) Surgery.
“It’s a pleasure to be part of the SPARSH Hospitals, to establish a Center of Excellence for Liver Transplantation and Hepato Pancreato Biliary Surgery,” Dr. Basant commented.

With these additions, SPARSH Hospitals enters a new phase in its existence since 2006.
