  • Eight Indian fishermen have been detained by the Sri Lankan Navy on charges of trespassing into the International Maritime Boundary Line.

    The fishermen set sail from Pudukkottai in Tamil Nadu and were apprehended while fishing in the night yesterday mid-sea along with their two mechanised boats.

    They were taken to Kangesanthurai harbor in the neighbouring country where further enquiries are going on.

    Earlier yesterday, three other fishermen were arrested taking the total in a single day to eleven.
