  • Students witness the adventures of marine life at Kangaroo Kids

    Students witnessing the adventure of marine life at Kangaroo Kids, MaladMumbai : Kangaroo Kids Education Ltd. and Kangaroo Kids Toddler’s Club, one of the leading school chains in India, organized ‘Marine Days’ a event during October 4 to 6, 2013, at Kangaroo Kids, Malad. The objective of the event was to give students the touch and feel experience of exciting marine life and to sensitize them towards ocean ecosystem. The activities were inspired by the life of sea creatures and ocean biology. Children from several schools across Mumbai participated and enjoyed the event.

    During the three day event, the marine habitat like scenes were created through puppet shows, dramatization, music and shadow play. Nine different rooms were reserved as information centers where students got chance to peep into marine life through mini aquarium, cold zone with sea animals like penguins, sea lion and walrus. In these rooms, underwater scenes with marine characters were depicted. In the word of one the teachers, these rooms were the knowledge mine for students.

    Lina Ashar, Chairperson, Kangaroo Kids Education Ltd said, “We at Kangaroo Kids Education Ltd. always try to explore new ways and methods of teaching and inculcating something new in our children. Children’s favorite stories come alive with activities, games, live marine life and dramatization. The teaching and learning through such mediums is direct, yet subtle.”

    Thousands of students from the city schools visited the event. These students were from Sunshine Preschool, JBCN, Thakur International School, Pinnacle High School, Sir J P Hight School, Billabong High Santacruz, Saylee International, Savitri Devi Agarwal School, D. G. Khetan School, Mainadevi Bajaj School & Billabong High School, Juhu. Also, 100 students from grade two to three of a BMC School – Dawood Baug witnessed the marine adventure. This school has been adopted by the NGO, Teach for India.

    One of the students described the event as, ‘Around the ocean in three days!’
