  • In Uttar Pradesh all major opposition parties including Samajwadi Party, BJP and Congress have demanded dismissal of Mayawati government for allegedly backing Animal Husbandry minister Awadhpal Singh Yadav.

    Lokayukta Justice N K Mehrotra has recommended sacking the Minister over corruption charges.

    Urging Governor B L Joshi to dismiss the Chief Minister along with the accused Minister Samajwadi Party spokesman has alleged that the Minister was being shielded blatantly in the just concluded Monsoon Session of the State Legislature.

    State unit president of the BJP Surya Pratap Shahi has said that the chief minister should take moral responsibility of this and resign.

    State Congress spokesman has said the reality of the minister has been exposed through the Lokayukta report. He has said that it would be better if the Chief Minister immediately dismisses the minister and also resigns by taking moral responsibility.

    AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that Lokayukta of the state Justice N K Mehrotra has suggested sacking the Animal Husbandry Minister Awadh Pal Singh Yadav from the cabinet for his involvement in corruption and criminal activities.

    An official spokes person Mr. AK Singhal from Lokayukta office has said that Lokayukta has also suggested for taking action against some senior civil and police officers including DM Balkar Singh and District Police Chief Lukshmi Narayan for supporting the land grabbing act of the Minister besides setting up of a task force to probe into the illegal manufacturing of country-made liquor by his family members.

    AIR correspondent reports that Mr. Yadav would be the second minister in the Mayawati government who has been indicted by the Lokayukta.

    Earlier, Religious Affairs Minister Rajesh Tripathi had to resign after he was found indulged in illegal activities in Gorakhpur.
