The US House of Representatives last night voted to send two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump to the Senate for trial. Lawmakers split largely along party lines, 228 to 193, in a vote that will allow a historic Senate impeachment trial of Trump to begin in the coming days.

Earlier, the House of Representatives Speaker, Nancy Pelosi named managers for the Senate trial which is likely to begin next week. The decision came four weeks after the House impeached President Donald Trump.

Congressman Adam Schiff, chairman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, has been named as the lead manager.

The House will vote to send the articles of impeachment to the Senate. After the vote, lawmakers who will act as prosecutors will walk the articles of impeachment to the Senate side of the Capitol.

The White House immediately slammed Pelosi and the Democratic Party.
