  • Utsav 2015 Kicks Starts with a Bang!! Celebrating 70 years of BMS College of Engineering!

    Bengaluru: The BMS Campus wore a festive look in accordance with the theme of Utsav Dr. P. Dayananda Pai-Kannada Film Actors Diganth Manchale and Aindrita Ray2015-“A 2D Escapade” coming alive through the various cartoon characters and comics dotting the campus. The 28th Edition of the much-awaited Utsav 2015- South India’s largest techno-cultural intercollegiate fest was inaugurated on Wednesday, April 1st amidst great excitement and energy.  Stars from the Kannada film industry- talented actor Diganth and the beautiful Aindritha Ray added the glamour quotient to the inaugural ceremony.

    The inaugural ceremony started with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp followed by the keynote address by the Principal, Dr. Mallikharjuna Babu and the Trustee, BMSET, Dr. P. Dayananda. This was followed by a highly entertaining mimicry by the renowned comedy artist Mimicry Dayanand who left the audience in splits.  The talented Playback singer Dr. Shamitha Malnad mesmerized the audience with her melodious voice and sang few of her latest hits. The roar and cheer by the audience at the inaugural ceremony seems to set the mood for the next 2-days of action packed events which is bound to take the students to new heights of entertainment, fun and intellect.

    Addressing the students, Dr. Mallikharjuna Babu shared, “We are proud to bring forward yet another edition of Utsav which is one of the first intercollegiate fests in the country. Utsav provides students with a platform to showcase their talent, test their intellect and competitive spirit and learn the art of teamwork, as the fest is the complete responsibility of the students. Starting with identifying the events, approaching the sponsors, branding, selection of the theme, the students take care of each and every element involved with the fest.  I congratulate all our students for their hardwork and team spirit for putting together Utsav 2015.”

    He further added, “Utsav 2015 also marks the beginning of the celebration of the 70th year anniversary of BMS College of Engineering.  BMSCE was the first private Engineering college in the country and is today hailed as one of the top engineering colleges in the country.”

    Recalling his college days, Diganth shared, “Looking back on college life is always nostalgic, the memories of all the fun comes flooding back. Stepping into BMS today took me to the day I came here for a Badminton competition. Those were the days that will always stay in memory.”

    The theme for Utsav 2015- “A 2D escapade’ revolves around Cartoons and comics. A walk down memory lane, paths lined with action figures and cartoons- Mickey Mouse to Winnie-The Pooh, The Power Puff Girls to Superman, is sure to make the students relieve the memories of their growing up days.

    The Principal further added, “We are expecting over 50,000 footfalls over the 3-day fest including the students, alumni and the participating teams from over 50 colleges from across South India.”

    As the fun, the gala and the good times continue to unravel over the period of next two days, certain events including the Hogathon, Turtle Jam, Whiplash will be the great crowd attracters. The second day of the fest will have the much-awaited Fashion show and Bassdrop performance by world-renowned artist Zaeden. The highlight of Day 3 is the “The Red Bull Tour Bus” which will be stationed at the campus to enthrall the students with the performances of Parvaaz and Undying Inc.
