Collection at Ensemble, Emporio, on July 28.

Celebrated as a gifted couturier, Varun Bahl’s latest line indirectly resonates one of history’s most celebrated and berated queens – Marie Antoinette, by bringing his innate sense of luxury to this couture presentation.

The contemporary interpretation of an enduring classic, he offers lehengas, farshi pajamas and anarkalis in an exciting palette. The color range oscillates from decadent pistachio hues to deep, drunken wines and maroons, glamorous golds to pure ivory shades. Varun charmingly brings alive an era of French courtly debauchery.

Flowing lengths of air-like tulle, shimmering damasks, and cascading chiffons are reined in with majestic jackets and corset-like structures. The collection impeccably translates this meeting of two cultures that have celebrated the sentiment of haute couture to the hilt, through the ages.
