Bengaluru:  Verbattle, the country’s largest and most successful inter-school debate competition conducted by Verbattle Foundation, has entered the Skirmish rounds of the competition. The 52 teams out of 60 selected from Hubli, Mangalore and Bengaluru for Senior-Skirmish Round battled it out today at The Garden City College in Bengaluru. In total 38 teams were selected who will march on to the Combat round which will be held on August 25th, 2015.

The Senior Skirmish round which took place today, saw the zonal level winners from Mangalore, Hubli and Bangalore debating their hearts out, competing with each other, hoping to edge on to the following rounds. From the total of 52 teams that participated, 38 teams have moved on to the Senior Combat round to be held on Wednesday. Amongst the triumphant teams were Delhi Public School from South Bangalore, BVB College of Engineering and Technology, Hubli and St. Agnes PU College, Mangalore.

 Deepak Themaya, Founder, Verbattle Foundation, said that, “Today we saw some of the excellent debate discussions on the stage. It gives immense pleasure to see young minds talk it out, to know that they are conscious of every issue in our country and the way they confer about things has brought me hopes that our future generation will be lead by a group of intellectuals.”

The Junior Skirmish rounds will be held on August 24th, where the shortlisted teams from the Junior sections of Mangalore, Hubli, and Bangalore zones will battle it out to reach the Junior Combat round. A total of 81 teams will be seen contesting in the Junior Skirmish rounds.

The team that would emerge as the sole winner among hundreds of teams that participated will be awarded a grand cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000 in the Junior Category, Beginner level winner will receive Rs. 30,000, Senior winner will win Rs. 50,000 and the winner of Kannada Verbattle will receive Rs. 20,000. The final prize distribution will take place on the 27th of August in Bangalore where the winners will be rewarded.
