  • Wall Street’s main indexes fall as Mnuchin says stimulus difficult before election

    Published on October 16, 2020

Wall Street’s main indexes fell yesterday as Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said it was difficult that a deal on more fiscal stimulus would be reached before the presidential election in November.

A mixed bag of quarterly earnings reports also dampened the investor sentiment.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.6 percent, the S&P 500 declined 0.7 percent and the Nasdaq Composite index plunged 0.8 percent.
