The West Bengal Government is going to take firm steps against those who support the Maoists in the state. Talking to news persons in Kolkata on Monday the Chief Minister Miss Mamata Banerjee said that even as a number of Maoists are surrendering and coming back to the national mainstream, some forces are trying to prevent them from doing so.

The Chief Minister clearly said that her Government would not tolerate this. Miss Mamata Banerjee said, there is no time limit for patience in democracy but warned sympathizers of action if they were found “glorifying” the Naxals. She said, she wants Maoist friends to return to the mainstream and many are returning.

The Government will help them in all possible ways. Defending her decision to step joint force operations in Maoist-hit ‘Junglemahal’, she said that her government suspended the operations for five months in the interest of peace.

It was also mentioned in the Trinamool Congress; election manifesto. But, after eight to ten killings, her government felt that it is morally bound to ensure security to the people and that she can’t deny her constitutional responsibilities.
