Income Tax department has said around three to four lakh crore rupees of evaded income have been deposited in banks post government’s demonetisation drive. Our correspondent quoting sources reports that Income Tax department is scrutinising details of these transactions. More than two lakh rupees have been deposited in over 60 lakh bank accounts post demonetisation.
Over 10,700 crore rupees cash has been deposited in different bank accounts in North Eastern states since 9th November last year. Income Tax department and Enforcement Directorate are also looking into over 16,000 crore rupees deposited in different accounts of cooperative banks. A total of 25,000 crore rupees was deposited in cash in dormant bank accounts post demonetisation.
