    Guwahati: One of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Assam’s Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, has received over 2.75 tourist arrivals during 2021-2022, taking the total income of the park to Rs 6 crore. In a statement, Jatin Sharma, director of the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, said that in the period from October 2021 to May 2022, the park, famous for its one-horned rhinoceros, received a total of 2,75,835 tourists and the total earnings here were Rs 6,39,23,389. During this time, 2,74,116 Indians and 1,719 foreign nationals came to the park.

    Earlier, in the period 2020-2021, 1,67,644 tourists visited the park and the total earnings were Rs 3,60,00,611. A total of 1,42,859 tourists visited the park in 2019-2020 and earned a total of Rs 4,20,63,541. The number of tourists in the park was affected due to coronavirus infection during the period 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. “In 2018-2019, the arrival of tourists here was partially affected due to Corona. The Kaziranga National Park has been closed for tourists from June 1 due to the monsoon season. The director of the park said there are a total of 144 man-made scientifically designed highlands, including 33 large highlands. It is helpful for the habitat of animals during floods. KNPTR, which is spread across five districts of Assam — Golaghat, Nagaon, Sonitpur, Vishwanath and Karbi Anglong— is not only home to one-horned rhinoceros, it is also home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian elephants, wild buffaloes and wild buffaloes. Along with this, thousands of birds as well as many other animal species are also found here.
