About 87 lakh 20 thousand farmers have been benefitted so far from the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season procurement Operations with MSP value of over one crore 12 lakh 983 crore rupees.

 
The Agriculture Ministry in a statement said that Paddy procurement for Kharif 2020-21 is continuing smoothly in the procuring States including  Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Assam, Karnataka and West Bengal.
 

So far over 598.43 Lakh Metric Tonnes of paddy have been procured. This is an increase of 18.10 per cent  against the last year corresponding purchase of 506.71 Lakh Metric Tonnes. Out of the total purchase of paddy, Punjab alone has contributed 202.77 Lakh Metric Tonnes which is 33.88 per cent  of total procurement.
 
The Ministry said, based on the proposal from the States, approval was accorded for procurement of 51.92 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Pulse and Oilseeds of Kharif Marketing Season 2020 for the States of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh under Price Support Scheme.
