96 Kailash Mansarovar Yatra pilgrims rescued from Simikot in Nepal

In Nepal, 96 stranded pilgrims of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra were evacuated from Simikot today as weather
conditions improved this morning. 158 pilgrims were evacuated yesterday. So far 254 stranded pilgrims have been evacuated from Simikot. AIR correspondent reports that the Embassy of India is closely monitoring the situation and providing all necessary support to the pilgrims.
With the improvement in weather conditions 73 pilgrims were evacuated through 5 commercial flight from Simikot this morning. Another 23 pilgrims were airlifted by the Nepal Army helicopter. Over 1300 pilgrims are still stranded in Simikot, Hilsa and Tibet side. However evacuation operation is being stopped due to poor weather conditions. The Indian Embassy representatives are providing all necessary support to pilgrims in Simikot and Nepalgunj. A four member team of the Embassy has already arrived at Nepalgunj on its way to Simikot and Hilsa. The team will set up camp offices to provide assistance to the stranded pilgrims.
