Guwahati : Akhil whisked away moments before Amit Shah’s arrival at NEDA conclave. Akhil Gogoi and other leaders and members of KMSS were detained from outside the premises of Sankardev Kalakhetra while they were waving black flags followed by strong protests against BJP National President Amit Shah’s visit to Guwahati for the third NEDA meeting. Right from the morning on Sunday, hundreds of KMSS activists were seen protesting outside Kalakhetra premises in Guwahati where the third NEDA meeting is being held and Amit Shah is supposed to arrive. The activists were seen protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. KMSS workers planned to welcome BJP national president with black flags opposing citizenship bill at NEDA conclave. The KMSS is also observing ‘black day’ on Sunday. As the protests grew stronger, KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi and others were detained and were taken away in buses from the spot. Akhil Gogoi, while being taken away said that though they had planned to stage a protest demonstration in a democratic way, the administration had acted in a barbaric way which is demeaning to democracy. Akhil had earlier called upon the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) to boycott the NEDA conclave and exhibit their protest against the citizenship bill. Meanwhile, multiple supporters of BJP arrived at the same spot waving party flags claiming that they have come to welcome BJP National President Amit Shah. Some of them were even seen involving in a mild fracas with KMSS supporters. According to latest reports, some of the KMSS members have been taken away to 4th APBN at Kahilipara while others have been taken away to Basistha PS.
