  • Assam: KMSS Raises Black Flags against Amit Shah’s Visit

    Guwahati : At a time when there is an unabated protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill in the state, BJP National President, Amit Shah’s visit has further aggravated the situation. Shah who has arrived the state today to address the third meeting of North East Democratic Alliance at Srimanta Kalakshetra was subjected to a large scale protest. People from all quarters was seen lodging protest raising black flags and chanting slogans against BJP-RSS ,even the rain could not deter the sheer determination of the protestors.
    The Peasant leader Akhil Gogoi stated firmly that at a time when the entire state is shaken by the Citizenship Amendment Bill, Amit Shah’s visit to campaign for the upcoming 2019 General Elections is unacceptable.He said, “BJP-RSS’s visit to the state is nothing but a conspiracy to increase its vote bank for the 2019 General Elections”. He stated that raising the Citizenship Amendment Bill by the Centre is itself a breach to the National Promise of the Assam Accord. He also mentioned that they had urged the Assam Gana Parishad(AGP) to refrain from being a part of the NEDA meeting but if they ever happens to participate in the meeting,  they should broach out the matter of Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016. He made it clear that the protest will continue until and unless the Proposed Bill is discarded totally.
    The protest of the KMSS members was however interfered and brought to a halt by an army of Police at the pretext of maintaining law and order. The Peasant leader, Akhil Gogoi was thereafter arrested in an undemocratic move.
