  • Lions Eye hospice gives yeomen service to the poor

    Jorhat : Lions Eye Hospital is giving a yeomen service to the poor of the poorest since 1997 and has completed over 50,000 cataract operations whereas 70% patients are treated free of cost and out of 50,000 operations which has been performed successfully, 35,000 cataract operation has performed alone by Dr. Pulokesh Bhagawati, the chief medical officer of the Lions Eye Hospital, said Hriday Bora, a member from the publicity wing of Lions Club here today.

    In last two years eye operation in the hospital is on the rise as ofdf with latest technology, machines has been introduced for which patients to the hospice is growing up and up. Out of 50,000 operated patients 70% of them were done free of cost which belongs to the BPL class from the society. The hospital is always trying to cater services to the patients basically from the economically poor class. So far the hospital has completed over 2000 Eye Camps within the district of Jorhat, Majuli, Titabor, Mariani, Teok, Golaghat, Sivasagar, Jhajimukh, Borhula, Dimapur, and where the patients needs our help at least to test their position for further investigation, we even move to interior places along the border belts of Nagaland, Dimapur, Sivasagar where patients could not come, so we even try to reach such places and we cater them services and for which we are recognized for our return and for such a reason patient flow from almost all the nook and corner of the North eastern States is on the rise, said Dr. Bhagawati, the chief medical officer of the Lions Eye Hospital, Jorhat while interacting with a section of visiting journalists.
