  • Assam is under fire over Citizenship (amendment) Bill

    Jorhat: Along with the rest of the state in Jorhat too indefinite protest by over 70 organizations were at its peak over scrapping the Citizenship (amendment) Bill-2016.

    Various organizations including Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuwa Chatra Parishad, AASU, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samitti and Hoseton Nagorik Moncho , ATSA, ATTASU, Lekhika Somaroh, Asom Sahitya Sabha, were indefinite protest  in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office over the Centre’s step motherly attitude to divert the issue to implement in other language through Clause VI of the Assam Accord which is no new but a ploy to hoodwink the people of the state which during a meeting in 2017 the Union Minister Rajnath Singh assured to activate the promise that is still on papers which the government is playing a fowl game to delay over the implementation, said Rajib Gogoi, the president of Jorhat district tai Ahom Students Union.
