  • PM Modi inaugurates ordnance factory in Amethi

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched 17 developments projects worth 538 crore rupees at Amethi in Uttar Pradesh. These projects include a factory to manufacture AK 203 rifles, the latest version in Kalashnikov series with Russian collaboration.

    Later addressing a rally there, the Prime Minister said, these rifles will help our security forces to tackle terrorists and naxals more effectively. He said, the ordnance factory will also create employment opportunities for the youth.

    Attacking the opposition, the Prime Minister said, our armed forces asked the then government in 2005 to meet their demand for modern weapons.

    He said a foundation stone was also laid for a factory to manufacture modern weapons in Amethi in 2007 but till 2010, the then government could not decide what type of weapons would be manufactured there.

    He said it is the NDA government which finally came forward to meet the demand for modern weapons for the armed forces.

    The Prime Minister said, likewise, the previous government at the Centre also overlooked the demand for bulletproof jackets for our jawans. But it is the NDA government which supplied bulletproof jackets to our brave jawans.

    The Prime Minister also talked about the government’s efforts to help farmers to improve their lot. He said now, farmers get improved seeds, fertilizers, pesticides etc. whenever they want.
