  • Four filed nominations in 8 Mangaldoi HPC in Assam

    Mangaldai  : On the penultimate day of filing of nominations for 8 Mangaldoi HPC on Monday a total of four candidates filed their nominations before Ghanashyam Dass the  Returning Officer of the Loksabha Constituency and the Deputy Commissioner of Darrang. The candidates included Dilip Saikia, the candidate nominated by the ruling BJP and its alliance and Bhubaneswar Kalita, the candidate for Congress (INC). State BJP President Ranjit Dass, State Ministers Bhabesh Kalita and Rihan Daimary respectively along with MLAs of BJP and its allies AGP and BPF from assembly segments under the HPC accompanied Dilip Saikia in his journey for filing of nomination. Similarly Dalgaon MLA Ilias Ali former Ministers Basanta Das, Dr Zoiinath Sarma were among the senior leaders who accompanied Bhubaneswar Kalita at the time of filing of nominations. Earlier both the candidates each arrived at the Deputy Commissioner’s office through a massive rally of their respective party members and supporters. The other two candidates who filed their nominations are Pradip Kr Daimary of the United Peoples’ Party Liberal (UPPL) and Biren Basak of Bharatiya Gana Parisad (BGP). Meanwhile the normal life in the district head quarter town, Mangaldai has been badly effected during the course of the nomination process due to serious traffic snarls created by the rallies of both the heavyweight candidates mentioned to showcase their political strengths. It may be mentioned here that Tuesday is the final scheduled day for filing of nomination in the HPC.
