     GUWAHATI : In Assam, 3 Bsf jawans were seriously injured when they were attacked by suspected cross border cattle smugglers along the Indo-Bangladesh international border. Arrested a smuggler. The BSF said on Sunday that inquiries revealed that 10 Bangladeshi smugglers and five Indian smugglers were present on both sides of the fence. He said bangladeshi smugglers and Indian smugglers had jointly attacked bsf. Those five people brought animals from India.

    When they cut the fencing and came from India and started carrying animals, bsf personnel fired and fearing it, they started running towards India, but the jawans hiding in the banana plantation caught him and the rest of his smugglers managed to escape. The arrested smuggler said that several times in the past he has transported animals across the border and for this he gets Rs 3000 per animal. BSF said in a statement that the incident took place in South Dinajpur. BSF personnel on duty observed the movement of 8-10 cattle smugglers along with cattle coming from India along the banks of the small Jamuna river with the intention of crossing cattle towards Bangladesh.

    The statement said BSF jawans challenged the smugglers to stop but the cattle smugglers aggressively surrounded them and attacked BSF jawans with sticks. A BSF jawan sustained head injuries in the incident. “The injured BSF jawans have been admitted to the government hospital in Hili for treatment and their condition is stable at present,” the statement said. In The Border Area of Nadia District, a Bangladeshi smuggler was caught by BSF jawans while smuggling cattle by cutting the fence from Nunaganj area, the border post of the 8th Corps, at night.

    The arrested smuggler hails from Srinathpur village in Bangladesh and has been identified as Mohammad Rahim Mian (32), son-in-sukur ali mian. The arrested smuggler has been handed over to the police for further legal action. In a statement issued by bsf, bsf intelligence wing received information about cattle smuggling from the area of border outpost Nunaganj. Based on this, the jawans deployed on the border of border post Nunaganj were alerted and a special ambush was also carried out. In heavy rain, jawans deployed on the border noticed suspicious movement of five or six people on both sides of the fence. The jawans asked them to stop but out of them, the smugglers from India tried to surround the jawans and the smugglers from bangladesh side cut off the fence.
