    Kokrajhar: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and its movement group like the National Democratic Front of Boroland –Progressive (NDFB-P) and People’s Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement(PJACBM) has announced its support to United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) candidatures in the 5 No. Kokrajhar (ST) and No. 8 Mangaldai (General) constituencies in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

    Briefing media persons at a press meet at Bodofa House in Kokrajhar today, the leaders of the three organizations said the movement group has decided to extend full support to the UPPL candidates Urkhao Gwra Brahma in  Kokrajhar constituency and Pradip Kumar Daimary in Mangaldai constituency as they feels the “need of a dynamic, sincere and efficient political leader in both the constituencies to maintain the value base of politics, peaceful coexistence, ensure good governance, proper implementation of central and state sponsored projects and optimum development in both the constituencies”.

    The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) has yesterday named former Rajya Sabha MP and party president Urkhao Gwra Brahma as the party candidate from 5th Kokrajhar constituency (ST) and Pradip Kumar Daimary from Mangaldai constituency for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

    “We want to elect our candidates to eliminate the misunderstanding, trust deficit among the communities and also to work efficiently for permanent solution of the long pending Bodo issue, expedite Peace process with ceasefire underground groups like NDFB (P), NDFB and other groups of Assam and North East. Provide security for all sections of people ensures equal right and protection of the identity and culture of Tribal and other ethnic people of BTC & Assam, ABSU president Pramod Boro said.

    The joint movement groups appeals the voters not to choose any corrupt and divisive politicians as their candidate for 17th Lok Sabha after 72 years of Independence. “The Tribal and other ethnic and non ethnic Indian citizens of BTC region and Assam has witness so many unrest situation for political mishandling of some vital issues in last couple of years by some immature political representatives elected from both the constituencies. As Parliament is the highest policy making body of the nation we have the responsibility to elect an efficient candidate who understands the democratic values and have obligation towards constitution and people of this region and country as whole who will also adhere for the solution of the various problems and issue of the Tribal and non tribal people of the state, he said.

    The influential student leader also requests the election commission both centre and state to make all necessary arrangement beforehand that no anti social and anti democratic forces can disturb the democratic process and general election for 17th Lok Sabha of the country by misusing money and muscle power. Further, requests to take strict action towards those who indulge to violence during election.
