  • Advinus Therapeutics and Torrent Research Centre Win BioQuizitive 2010 Regional Finals at Mumbai and Ahmedabad

    Bangalore, Karnataka-More than fifty teams battled it out at the Mumbai and Ahmedabad regional rounds of BioQuizitive 2010, India’s first life sciences quiz for corporate and professionals on 4th and 5th September 2010. 2-member teams took part in a preliminary written round of 20 questions and four top teams qualified for the regional finals in both the cities.

    Suraj Menon & Dr. Siddhartha De of Advinus Therapeutics were the Regional Winners and Arnab Bhattacharya & Anand Kant Das of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) were declared the Runners Up of the Mumbai Regional Round.

    Dr. Ripal Gharia & Dr. Dhanaraj E of Torrent Research Centre India were the Regional Winners and Hiren Thakkar & Kapil Jhawar of Quintiles were declared the Runners Up of the Ahmedabad Regional Round.

    Two teams from Advinus Therapeutics and a team each from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and Deutsche Bank qualified for the regional finals at Mumbai. A team each from Torrent Research Centre India, St.Xavier’s College Faculty, Quintiles and Veeda Clinical Research qualified for the regional finals at Ahmedabad.

    There were many questions for the audience titled ‘Audience Quotient’. There was also a City Special comprising of ten questions where both the Mumbai and Ahmedabad audiences were quizzed on city trivia. The corporate quiz, hosted by Bangalore based Lotus Clinical Research Academy, brought together the sharpest quizzing minds to battle it out at the regional championships. On stage it was an interesting series of five quiz rounds culminating with an exciting connection round. The five rounds were titled Walk the Talk, Fox Trot, Canterbuzzing, Galloping Ahead and Finish Line.

    The quiz was conducted by Quiz Master Prakash Subbarao, Founder of The Bangalore Quiz Group.

    Mr. Sudhir Pai, Managing Director of Lotus Clinical Research Academy commented on the exciting regional rounds: “It has given us immense satisfaction to host the inaugural round at Mumbai and the second regional round of BioQuizitive 2010 in Ahmedabad. We are fascinated by the level of quizzing and the sharp minds revealed during these contests. Moving forward we would like to see enhanced participation from avid quizzers and many more cities covered.”

    The competition will move to Hyderabad and Bangalore on 18th and 25th September 2010 respectively. The regional round at Bangalore will be followed by the National Finals at the same venue. The total prizes being offered are worth INR 7 lakhs. The national winning team will win a cash prize worth INR 2 lakhs. Bioquizitive will also offer exciting prizes for audience across these cities.
