  • All arrangements in place for fair conduct of polls for 1st phase of Manipur & 6th phase of UP tomorrow

    In Assembly poll bound States, preparation is in final stage for first phase of voting in Maniupur and sixth phase of Uttar Pradesh. Electorate arrangements are being made to ensure free and smmoth polling tomorrow. Polling personnel and security forces are pollingbeing rushed to their respective polling stations.

    In Uttar Pradesh, all arrangements are in place for tomorrow’s voting. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for peaceful and event free voting. Voting will be held in 49 constituencies spread over 7 districts of eastern region. Districts include Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Azamgarh, Mau and Ballia. Voting will be held from 7 AM to 5 PM.

    Our correspondent reports that about 1800 polling stations have been set up for over one crore 72 Lakhs voters. About 2150 polling station have been identified as sensitive and about 680 helmets as vulnerable. Special security measures have been taken at such places. Arrangements have been made at about 1780 polling booths for web casting of poll process. Indo Nepal border at Maharajganj and Gorakhpur and interstate border with Bihar have been sealed.

    A total of 635 candidates including 63 women are in the fray. BSP has fielded its candidates on all seats while BJP has put up its candidates in 45 segments. BJP’s ally Apana Dal nominee is in contest only from one seat. SP candidates are in the fray in 40 constituencies and its ally congress has fielded candidates in 9 segments. BJP’ another ally Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party is in contest from 4 seats.
