Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni has called upon the electronic media to follow self regulation and adopt a cable code. Talking to media persons at Chandigarh on Friday, she said that a 13-member council is being constituted to frame the guidelines and listen to complaints. It will be headed by retired Chief Justice of High Court. Among the members, four will be broadcasters, four from civil society and four members will be from different Commissions.

She said Doordarshan and Akashwani will be fully digitalized by 2017. Mrs. Soni said digitalisation of cable system is also underway which will ensure functioning of cable companies in accordance with Cable Regulation Act.
