    Guwahati : The CBI on Tuesday conducted search operations at four different properties of APSC-scam prime accused Rakesh Paul and his wife.Three different teams of CBI conducted the search operations at Paul’s properties near GMCH, Saktigarh Road and Kahilipara, while, another team conducted search operation at an apartment of Paul’s wife. It may be mentioned here that the Gauhati High Court (GHC) has ordered a detailed CBI inquiry in the context of former Chairman of APSC Rakesh Paul’s income-property.During investigation, it was found that Paul has direct direct access to Nabakanta Patir, an assistant engineer in the town and country planning department in Dibrugarh, who was arrested red-handed while taking money for an APSC job. Answer scripts of APSC exam containing enhanced marks bearing the signature of invigilator, including APSC tabulation sheets, were seized during raids at Paul’s residence later. It may further be mentioned that the Gauhati High Court was likely to give a verdict on infamous multi-crore Cash for Job scam on May 15, 2019 on the CBI’s plea for filing a case and carrying out investigation into former APSC (Assam Public Service Commission) chairman Rakesh Paul’s assets allegedly disproportionate to his known sources of income. The High Court heard the CBI’s plea and fixed May 15, 2019 as the next date for the hearing. Recently, the CBI submitted a preliminary report on the assets of Rakesh Paul to the High Court. The report was following a directive issued by the High Court to the CBI for an inquiry into the property of the former APSC chief.
