    Around two crore devotees took holy dip on the occasion of Makar Sankranti at Kumbh Prayagraj. Bathing passed peacefully without any  untoward incident. Additional Mela Adhikari Dileep Trigunyat told media persons at Kumbh that devotees were still at Sangam  for bathing. Elaborate security arrangements were put in place for the world’s largest  religious and cultural human congregation at the confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati -the Sangam and nearby places.

    The Royal holy dip was initiated by saints and seers of different Akharas early this morning.  Railways have arranged  1711 special trains for the Kumbh. Utter Pradesh Transport Department  has pressed into service six thousand buses for 49 days for the mega event.

    The Kumbh bathing Mela will continue for 49 days and conclude on  4th March on Mahashivratri. There are six main bathing dates including Makar Sankranti. Next two Royal bathing fall on Mauni Amavasya on  4th February and Basant Panchmi on  10th February.

    AIR correspondent reports that the devotees had started reaching at Sangam area since yesterday to avoid any delay and confusion  at the last moment.  Due to huge gathering reaching Kumbh,  the administration had enforced traffic diversion and no vehicle was allowed to enter in Kumbh area. Seven thousand cusecs water have been released at Sangam for holy dip.
