  • Assam Rifles seizes brown sugar worth Rs 1.16 cr in Nagaland

    Guwahati : Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of IGAR (S), apprehended a drug smuggler carrying brown sugar worth Rs 1.16 crore, at Permanent Vehicle Check Post (PVCP), Khudengthabi today. Based on specific input from a reliable source, a team from Khudengthabi post, stopped a black auto rickshaw (without any registration number) which was moving from Moreh to Khudengthabi.The Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (S), apprehended a drug smuggler carrying brown sugar worth Rs 1.16 crore at Permanent Vehicle Check Post (PVCP) in Khudengthabi in Nagaland. Based on specific input from a reliable source, a team from Khudengthabi post stopped a black colour autorickshaw without registration number which was moving from Moreh to Khudnegthabi. On checking the vehicle, 42 packets of orange coloured powder suspected to be brown sugar and weighing approximately 582 gms (including packing material) was found hidden inside the body of the auto rickshaw.  The contraband was being transported by a person who has been identified as Jampao Khungsai. There were no other passengers in the auto rickshaw. The approximate cost of the seized brown sugar is Rs 1.16 Crores.On carrying out a thorough check of the vehicle, 42 packets of orange coloured powder suspected to be brown sugar and weighing approximately 582 gms (including the packing material) were found hidden inside the body of the vehicle. The contraband was being transported by a person identified as Jampao Khungsai, (40) s/o (L) Gaukhojan Khongsai of Khudengthabi village, Tengnoupal.
