Mangaldai : Host Assam has restricted Bihar 168 for 8 on the first day of the three day match of U-16 Vijay Merchant trophy at Mangaldai stadium on Sunday. Opting to bat first after calling the coin correctly the visitor side kept on loosing wickets at regular intervals against a disciplined bowling attack of the host Assam led by Mayukh Hazarika (3/39) & Pritish Raha Roy (2/31). Kanishk Kaustabh top scored with a patient unbeaten knock of 78 for Bihar. Only two other Bihar batsmen namely Yashraj(37)) & S. Nigrodh (22) could reach into double figures. When stumps were drawn on the first day Reshu Raj (4 n. ০) was giving company to Kanishk. Meanwhile very poor arrangement for press and media including lack of any press gallery in the match organized by Assam Cricket Association  under Board of Control of Cricket for India (BCCI)  which is considered as the richest cricket organization in the world  has created resentment among the media fraternity of Mangaldai.
