  • Awareness prog on ‘Chetona’ scheme for welfare of elderly/senior citizens held

    Kokrajhar: An awareness programme under ‘Chetona’ scheme for welfare of elderly/senior citizens was held today Bodofa Cultural Complex Auditorium in Kokrajhar today.

    Organised by Social Welfare Department Assam in association with Social Welfare Department, Bodoland Territorial Council, chief of BTC Hagrama Mohilary, Assam Social Welfare and Soil Conservation minister Pramila Rani Brahma, Additional chief secretary social welfare department Assam Jishnu Barua attended as guest and delivered their valueable speeches.

    Minister Pramila Rani Brahma in her speech spoke on various government schemes for the benefit of senior and elderly citizens.

    The BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary suggest formation of BTAD region senior citizen welfare board to oversee various schemes and benefits of the senior citizens. He also said a house for senior citizens would be constructed in Kokrajhar.

    The senior citizens were also facilitated  by washing their feet on the occasion as a mark of respect. They were also facilitated with traditional aronai, Bihu gamosa and a blanket each.

    Chairman of Senior Citizen Welfare Council Assam Harekrishna Deka, BTC executive members Mritunjay Narzary, Doneswar Goyary, Ansumwi Mohilary, BTC Addl. principal secretary Robinson Mushahary, Kokrajhar DC Partha Pratim Mazumdar were also present on the occasion.
