  • AYUSH Ministry launches clinical research studies on use of Ayurveda as preventive & curative medicine for COVID-19

    AYUSH Ministry in collaboration with the Health Ministry today launched the clinical research studies on use of Ayurveda as preventive and addon curative medicine for COVID-19.

    The clinical trials would include both prophylactic and curative effects of Ashwagandha, Yashtimadhu, Guduchi with Pippali and a poly herbal formulation known as AYUSH-64.

    These studies will be done as a joint initiative of Ministry of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Science and Technology through Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) with technical support of ICMR.

    AYUSH minister Shripad Naik and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan jointly launched the interdisciplinary study along with Secretary AYUSH , Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha.

    An Interdisciplinary Ayush Research and Development Task Force with a group of experts under Vice Chairman, University Grant Commission (UGC) , Dr Bhushan Patvardhan has also been set up to formulate and develop strategies for these AYUSH based clinical studies

    The collaboration would also undertake population-based interventional studies on the impact of AYUSH based preventive medicines.

    Assessment of acceptance and usage of AYUSH advisories in prevention of COVID-19 through AYUSH Sanjivani App would also be done.
