Members of the 7 countries regional grouping Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) celebrated the BIMSTEC Day yesterday in Dhaka.

Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dr A K Abdul Momen was the chief guest of the event. Acting High Commissioner Bishwadip Dey represented India in the event. Welcoming the guests on the occasion, Secretary General of BIMSTEC M. Shahidul Islam said that BIMSTEC will be able to achieve further progress in various sectors of cooperation. He applauded the progress of BIMSTEC in 14 priority areas in the last 22 years of its existence.
