Guwahati : The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh,Bharatiya Janata Party,Assam and West Bengal has initiated a campaign for implementation of a citizens’ list in West Bengal, similar to Assam’s National Register of Citizens that seeks to weed out immigrants in the state of Assam & West Bengal. RSS and its frontal organisations have started a pro-NRC drive in all West Bengal all over districts near Bangladesh border and Assam Bangladesh Border like Dhubri, Karimganj Silchar Hailakandi with a focus on door-to-door campaign to convince people about the “future perils” of “non-stop infiltration” of Bangladeshi Muslims into the state, The RSS -BJP and its organisations have started a pro-NRC drive in all Bengal districts near the Bangladesh border. Door-to-door campaigns aimed at convincing people about the perils of what the RSS describes as non-stop infiltration of Bangladeshi Muslims into the state. The BJP has already reignited the NRC debate after party President Amit Shah compared Bangladeshi migrants to termites. This double offensive by the BJP and the RSS is making Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee see red all over again. RSS has also formed a committee of senior lawyers who are working on filing petitions before the Calcutta High Court and, if needed, the Supreme Court, seeking legal intervention in implementing an NRC process in West Bengal, RSS sources said. Claiming that NRC process is the only way to save the state from “jihadis” of Bangladesh, RSS leader said today, “We have formed many small groups which are travelling to districts and assisting our local volunteers to meet the villagers and convince them about the the process.Responding to the NRC process in Assam, where lakhs of Bengali Hindus were left out of the draft list, Basu said the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 – which seeks to provide Indian citizenship to minority refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan – is likely to be passed before 2019. “We will not allow a single Hindu family to become refugee again, President of Assam BJP Ranjit Das Said.he said. “They have tolerated enough torture following partition. We will ensure that this will not be repeated. This is the first such step for the Hindu refugees taken by any government in the country. But some Opposition parties like Trinamool Congress are as opposed to this bill as they are against the NRC.” BJP is also running a campaign on the same issue. “In small groups, we are also going to people he added .
