    Mangaldai : Ruling BJP  has captured the Darrang Zilla Parishad for the next five year term . In the first meeting of the newly elected executive body of the district level highest Panchyat institution held on Friday afternoon at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall and with Deputy Commissioner Ghanashyam Dass in the chair . Dhirendra Deka , the BJP member from the Deomornoi-Pathorighat Zilla Parishad  has been declared winner in the unreserved post of President of the Panchayat body through secret ballots .The BJP candidate defeated his rival Congress candidate and elected member from the Dhula ZP constituency Abdul Rashid by a margin of two votes . Dhirendra Deka secured eight votes in comparison to six by his opponent . Earlier both the names were proposed for this post . On the other hand in the Vice President post reserved for general woman BJP candidate and elected representative from Lakhimpur-Tengabari ZP constituency Kusum Deka became fortunate to defeat her opposition Congress candidate and the elected member from Lalpool ZP seat Sonprobha Saikia by means rolling the coin . Both the candidates were earlier locked with seven votes each in the battle of secret ballot. It may be mentioned here that in the fourteen member elected body BJP has got the maximum of six elected members , followed by Congress with five , AIUDF two and independent one . However none of them was able to win the requisite absolute majority of eight seats to form the body of their won leading to take the help of the secret ballot .
